Geographic Location

Eastern Taiwan is located at the conjunction of the Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Continental Plate, the collision of which gave birth to the Central Range, home of some of the world’s most breath taking canyons. Stretching over 200 kilometers, the eastern coastline north of the Liwu River is noted for its high sheer cliffs. Along the coast between the Hualien River and Beinan River, you can enjoy a varied landscape of beaches, pebble shores, reefs, offshore islets, and capes, as well as intriguing sea-eroded rock platforms, caves, and trenches.

登革熱疫情延燒，中央流行疫情指揮中心上午公布最新統計，本土登革熱病例新增454例，累計17,112例。其中台南單日新增366例，疫情最嚴重，高雄市新增73例、新北市及台中市各3例、雲林縣及花蓮縣各2例、屏東縣、台北市、桃園市、嘉義縣及台東縣各1例；全台無新增疑似登革熱死亡病例。

衛福部長蔣丙煌在台南市長賴清德陪同下，今（27）日分別走訪奇美醫院、部立台南兩家醫院及登革熱前進指揮所。他表示，因應中秋節三天連續假期大部分的診所休診，可能有大量病患湧入醫學中心急診，指揮中心上周已要求奇美及成大兩家醫學中心在連假期間開設登革熱急門診，並依照世界衛生組織建議的A、B、C級診斷建議分流病患。此外，全國登革熱累積病例已突破17,000例，他也強調今年因開始使用NS1快篩檢驗後病例數大幅增加，有助於醫師正確診斷及防疫工作的及早推動。

此外，台北市衛生局指出，昨新增1例本土登革熱確診個案，患者為55歲女性，11日至23日返回台南老家居後，23日當天出現發燒、嘔吐症狀，在當地診所就醫、服用退燒藥，24日搭車返回台北後立即就醫採檢，確診登革熱。

衛生局強調，中秋節有連續3天假期，民眾南來北往，勿輕忽登革熱的威脅，務必做好個人防蚊措施，如有出現疑似登革熱症狀，應儘速就醫，並告知醫師旅遊史、活動史。
